Bramesco's new book traces the history of color movies using fifty remarkable examples that span color filmmaking's low-tech origins through the digital age.
This sounds like a very cool book, which I will put on my birthday wishlist. I share Bramesco’s annoyance with the digital pops and crackles of Skinamarink. In fact, they were so cheaply done that you could see the static pattern repeating every few seconds, which I found incredibly annoying and distracting. Once I noticed this, I couldn’t see anything else.
Looks like another movie book to add to my stack. I actually have Herschell Gordon Lewis’ Blood Trilogy on DVD, so I’ll have to rewatch “Color Me Blood Red” sometime. I think a good supplement for this is CineFix’s YouTube installment “10 Best Uses of Color of All Time.” Before watching it, I tried to think of films that, well . . looked good in color: “The Adventures of Robin Hood,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Fantasia.” They went a different route that’s not too dissimilar to what Bramesco has examined with his book.
Did Bramesco used to write for the AVC or am I mixing him up with something? Is this Friend of the Pod Charles Bramesco???
I love me some Freed unit

This is wonderful. I am totally going to surprise my wife with this book, she'll eat it up.
This book sounds awesome and I'm ordering it ASAP. Congrats to Charles Bramesco, who is a critic I've read for a long time now.
Totally down for more features like this! Great interview.
Justice for BABYLON!
Can't wait to dig into this book.
