The problem with Framed and Moviedle is that there’s no real strategy that can be employed. You either know the film or you don’t. One of the great things about Wordle is that you can play well and still get the word even if you’ve never heard it before.
The further problem with Moviedle (beyond the awful title) is that it’s really easy. I don’t think I’ve ever not gotten it on the first try.
Framed is great as a recent guess' shots kept me running through horror movies, based on the framing, until I realized right before the final still that I was looking at Iñárritu's Birdman.
There is also https://www.cinenerdle.app/ -- kind of frustrating, since you play by selectively revealing one-ninth of a movie frame at a time, so first guess is all luck. I still play everyday
Wow, Filmwise! My co-workers and I used to do an Invisible quiz every Monday in the mid-aughts. We hardly ever got all 8. Besides links to their Patreon, I don't think the site has changed in at least 15 years.
I play Box Office Game daily and every time a Tyler Perry movie is in there, I'm screwed, so I'm glad you referenced that in the piece. I feel represented.
There's also Hollywoodle, a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon affair where you have to link the two actors in as few moves as you can - with this one, even when you're "right", you can have multiple goes (though I think only your first attempt feeds into that day's overall stats).
ok but I LOVE ACTORLE
Have you played the NBA one? It’s a silhouette of an NBA player and you guess the name. It has terrible name that I can’t remember but worth a google.
It's not a terrible name! It's an awesome name: Poeltl. There's even a news clip of Jacob Poeltl himself playing the game, which he happens to love. https://twitter.com/chase_shannon/status/1500678703650689028?

Kinda glad these are only one a day, or I wouldn't get anything done. Got today's Actorle on the first guess, so it's definitely my favourite.
