it's hard to keep any show top notch for that many eps! I'm not sure any seasons match the first 4 or so

Honestly, me think show was consistently great for 10 years, which is more than me can say for Simpsons. It really only this past season that felt off. So, I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was a kid largely because of Top Gun, that and being a PC family as opposed to consoles meant playing a lot of flight simulators. I know that movie back to front, for better or worse, so I liked Maverick's fan service while not feeling like it really added up to much beyond that until the third act. I had the same problem with Scream 2022 where the characters worked for me as a group, but separated out they didn't stand on their own that well, including Rooster.

Something worth noting in Top Gun Maverick: it may be the first film where Cruise allows another actor to be (on-screen) taller than him and it’s hard to miss in the final act when Rooster and Maverick reconnect. Teller is huge compared to Cruise. Maybe that’s the ultimate sign of passing the torch.

I disagree with nothing Keith says in his Top Gun review, but the action is so exhilarating I would easily give it four stars. As he mentions it really puts the typical CGI blockbusters is sharp relief.
