George Miller follows up 'Mad Max: Fury Road' with a fantasia for the mind as well as the eye. And Owen Kline makes his directorial debut with the Daniel Clowes-like tale of an aspiring cartoonist.
Oh, man, that reminds me of years ago, when my wife was the last of our friend group to turn 40. On her birthday, we were all gathered for a D&D game, and I pulled out an ice cream cake from the fridge. Instead of singing Happy Birthday, we all chanted "One of Us! One of Us!" -- which I'd also gotten written on the cake (by a very confused Carvel employee).
I just saw it today also. The first half was great: it reminded me so much of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. The second half (or I guess the third third) was unexpected, but I dug it. It had some similarities to The Golem and the Jinni. Looking forward to the podcast.
Haven't seen it yet, but props to Miller for making a film UNDER two hours!
My guy keeps it tight! His longest films are ‘Fury Road’ (120 min.) and ‘Lorenzo’s Oil’ (128 min.). Everything else is under two hours.
Wow, Three Thousand Years of Longing was incredible. I'm so glad I made time to see it in theaters before it leaves my local place this week.
One of us! One of us!
