This week brings two movies loaded with references to other movies, but only one could be described as "original."
"[Channing Tatum is] a 21st century Judy Holliday." Nailed it, Scott. I laughed out loud.
Keith, I only scrolled to the bottom of your review to check out the star rating, since I have a ticket to see EEAAO Monday and want to go in knowing as little as possible. But I'm glad to know you liked it that well.
Me more excited abou Everything Everywhere than me have been for movie in long time. Besides loving Yeoh in everything, and being happy to see Ke come back to acting, this also remind me of Sorry to Bother You, which remains one of favorite movies of this century. Surreal, absurdly-high-concept movie that have lot to say underneath several crates of fireworks.
Your review had convinced me to hold off on The Lost City until you got to the point about Patti Harrison as her social media manager. You son of a bitch, I'm in...
If anyone needs a YouTube rabbit hole to go down, start with Patti Harrison performing a song she wrote for Dua Lipa.
EEAAO — Sens8, no? Wachowskis surely the godmothers of Daniels. Btw Yeoh uses her native Malaysian accent and diction: “I very busy today, no time to help you.” Lol
