I'm a sucker for spy movies about how much it sucks to be a spy, so I'm looking forward to seeing All the Old Knives.

Bay’s films have never once vibed with my sensibilities but consider me intrigued by the idea of a Heat: Oops! All Waingro edition.

Yeah, it's not exactly the best team Danny has put together. Really surprising that his brother, already on the fence about pitching in, didn't run for the hills after spending a minute with them.

It sound like third-act conceit of Drive. "Me never use same crew twice, so instead of picking any vaguely-competent guy from previous job for this one, me brought back unstable locker room cancer who nearly blew last job."

Sex scenes and fight scenes work best when they tell you something about characters, and it sound like that something Bay not understand but Pederson does. Anyway, me would probably go see two-hander with Newton and Pine if they were two painters whose backstory involved watching it dry, so this one sound great.

I’m curious: are there any Bay movies you think are genuinely worthwhile, Scott (and/or Keith)? I know a lot of people cite The Rock or Pain & Gain - the latter, especially, seems like it could be a candidate for New Cult Canon, come to think of it.

Not really, I'm afraid. I think The Rock and Pain & Gain are the closest I've gotten -- and I did appreciate the sheer insanity of the opening 30 minutes of 6 Underground-- but he's just not for me. Incredible image-maker, though, which is a bummer when those images are chopped into hash.
