PS I don’t think gifs work here but if you click on the vampire in the archway you won’t be disappointed.

These not being available to watch is a travesty.

It is. I hesitated even doing this piece because they’re so hard to find.

Looks like I may have to obtain them via dubious methods. Just like I had to do for 'Heroic Trio' a few years ago.

What a coincidence, I just imported a big haul of Nova Media Blu-rays from a seller on EBay, and Encounters of The Spooky Kind and Mr. Vampire were two of my choices! I’m planning on watching at least one of the two this weekend, so I love having this piece to come back to.

Hong Kong cinema from the late 70’s through early 90’s is just so damn good that you can expect all of them to be rewarding. I especially am becoming such a fan of Sammo Hung - his movies are maybe not always 100% great, but I think his talent level as a director and choreographer is as high as Jackie Chan’s. I especially love any movie with those two and Yuen Biao all together.

I think there’s reason to be optimistic, though. Arrow Films and 88 Films have begun releasing some impressive Region “A” releases of Hong Kong cinema. Shaw Bros to start, but hopefully Golden Harvest comes next.
